Kelli Mckinney

Kelli is a licensed counselor in the state of Missouri, and a nationally accredited counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors. Kelli earned her Bachelors in Biology, Pre-med, at the University of Texas at Austin, and her Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Denver Seminary, an accredited graduate program that offers a “bilingual” education in Christian Theological foundations and mental health therapy. Kelli is also certified in the pre and post-marital tool Prepare/Enrich.¬† Kelli started her career in full-time ministry working for Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) with college students stateside and abroad. Kelli has spent the last several years working in both private practice settings in Denver and Kansas City, and at Two Rivers Behavioral Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Kelli was promoted to lead therapist at Two Rivers and¬† developed innovative programming for the hospital to better facilitate a trauma-informed therapeutic¬† environment. Kelli has consulted with churches, families, and individuals for her expertise.


As a counselor, Kelli values a holistic approach to therapy by exploring all aspects of the person’s life while respecting each individual’s unique reasons for receiving therapy. Kelli’s goal is to be clinically descriptive and biblically prescriptive, bringing hope and healing to the whole person. Kelli sees a variety of clients, and is most passionate working with individuals and couples on issues such as grief and loss, depression, anxiety, divorce, relationship struggles, life transitions, co-dependency, identity issues, women’s issues. Kelli has experience working with abuse and trauma, bipolar disorder, and infertility/miscarriage struggles, missionaries and missionary kids (also known as “Third Culture Kids”), and utilizes distance counseling . Kelli is dedicated to establishing a safe and collaborative relationship that meets the client where they are while boldly speaking truth, gently challenging, and encouraging from a strengths-based, grace-filled perspective.

Amber Carlson

Amber M. Carlson, Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Play Therapist and AutPlay Therapist certified. AutPlay is a play therapy and behavioral therapy approach for working with children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. AutPlay has three components: emotion regulation ability, social skills development and connection. AutPlay therapists work very closely with parents to help them learn how to implement skills at home with their child. AutPlay is also helpful for families effected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dysregulation issues, and other developmental disabilities.


Amber earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology at William Jewell College in 2010 and earned her Masters in Counseling at MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2014. Amber currently specializes in working with children and their families as well as co-facilitating a Batterers Intervention Group. Amber works daily with children and families who have experienced trauma.


As a private practice therapist Amber uses a client centered approach, knowing that each child is unique. She believes that therapeutic relationships are very important not only for the child, but for parents as well.
